Although
the evidence isn't as strong as in Jeanifer Weldon's case, James
Duckett is also considered a suspect in the case of an unidentified
young woman who was found in a water-filled ditch off Combee Road in
1986.
The Sheriff's Office hasn't had any success in
identifying the woman, whom detectives think was 20 to 30 years old,
but possibly younger.
That in itself has proved to be a major
obstacle in being able to make an arrest in her death.
"The
crucial thing in that case is identifying the victim," sheriff's
Maj. W.J. Martin said.
"There are marked similarities
(between the missing woman, known to deputies as Jane Doe, and
Jeanifer Weldon)," he said, "but not the same level of
factors."
Jane Doe had numerous tattoos and wore several
pieces of jewelry, including heart-shaped earrings, bracelets and
necklaces.
Information about Jane Doe can be found at
www.polk sheriff.org under Cold Case Files.
